The Summer edition of Modern Quilts Unlimited just came out digitally, and I have my second quilt “All Together Now” is included in it! I am pretty happy, because I really love this quilt.
It’s a twin-size quilt at 69″ x 90″ and will be going on the bed we made from scratch for my little boy. It’s kind of a sweet thing. And I also made a version of this for an auction for Girls, Inc. (Westchester) an amazing and empowering non-profit for “inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold”. I *love* the work they do. Love. Please check them out, because they have amazing programs and I’m pretty sure they are in your area, since they’ve been around for a long time.
I used concentric circles in the white, and repeated the same motifs in the red and blue chains, as well as the black. I used variegated threads in the black, red, and blue areas because it was so linear and strong graphically, I wanted to add some variation to it. I also wanted to make it a little softer, so instead of making everything rigid and controlled, I made the designs more loose, which I really think helped it to feel less “strict”.
Here’s a pic where you can see some of the variegated thread a little better, as well as some of the detail of the quilting:

This is so fun, because I remember talking to you on Angela’s forum about this quilt last summer! You were looking for suggestions on how to quilt it and I threw my 2 cents in- and we went back and forth a while…and here it is all finished and beautiful- and now we are friends and get to meet each other soon… fun to see it and remember where I met you first!

Haha, Molly, that’s right! I had forgotten all about that–funny how life works out, right? Can’t wait to meet you in person in October, too!
