You know, the one where you have so many things in your mind for next projects, but there are so many they kind of want to slither and slide away before you can really get them together? It feels a little like herding snakes, all slippy and slidey. I am half-considering some kind of audio filing device, except that I know it would sound like this:
Me: Small snack bag with … No, Elder Child, you cannot have sugar straight out of the bowl.
EC: But I *want* it!
Me: Younger Child, please don’t hand him the spoon. Can you give me the spoon instead?
YC: [baby gibberish] NO! [baby gibberish]
Me: OK, snack bag with a drawstring sized for a cup measure of … Please give me the knife. I can help you find something better to use to eat your… PLEASE DON’T EAT THE BUTTER STRAIGHT. You have some yummy blueberries right here, and I can get you some butter on toast if you really, hey! Elder Child bring back that sugar bowl!
YC: RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!
EC: But I wanted it! I told you I wanted it! I’m saying please! Please! Pleeeeeease! pleasepleasepleasePLEASEplease puuuuuuh-leeeeeeeeeeease. PleASE.
Me: Sigh. Let’s turn this off.
I’m trying to enjoy this last summer before Eldest goes to kindergarten, since I know it’s going to go by fast. Sometimes it’s frustrating to get only an hour and a half (non-consecutive), and that’s if I’m lucky, but while I love making things and what I do, it’s my part-time job right now, second to my full-time mama job. This won’t be forever, which is a bittersweet feeling.
