I’m off to the funeral of a quilting friend today, Karen K. She was one of those ladies who, even in the few times I had the pleasure of hanging out with her in our quilting group, always had an answer for how to do something or where to look to find out more information. She was a truly talented woman, and I know she is sorely missed, not only by her friends and family, but by the community. I will always remember her kindness and willingness to help, no matter what form that help needed to be.
I am a relatively new recruit for this friendship group, and probably younger than everyone else by a minimum of 2 decades. I hope that I can be the kind of quilter Karen was–always ready to lend a hand, talk technique and history, and just generally be a part of making the world a nicer place with the things that I make with love.
