Or, more truly, a commuter prop plane followed by a jet plane. QuiltCon starts on Thursday!
One of my favorite things ever is the part of the book where the preparations take place: the organizing of lists, the packing of all the useful bits, and the anticipation of departure. Or, in my own life, the supply lists for going on excavations (trowel? sunscreen? good socks and work boots? head cover?). It was with great pleasure that I got the school supply lists for my little boy’s kindergarten year, although I rather wished it was a little more extensive just so I could spread out the enjoyment a bit more.
There’s nothing too unusual in these lists, but it does mark a few beginning sfor me. It will be the first time I away from my just-turned-two daughter who is going through a pretty intense “where’s mama?” phase. It will be the first time I present something professionally as “mandalei”. It will be the first time–for all of us attending–where we get together and celebrate this style of quilting.
Not sure what to expect, but the journey is its own reward, right?
