My little boy is in kindergarten this year, and they made a little book for Mother’s Day that had fill-on-the-blanks about us. Here is my absolute favorite:

He’s the one in the birthday hat to the left–his birthday is coming up, so he’s plotting what cake he’d like this year. Two of our more memorable concoctions have been dirt cakes using Ina Garten sheet cakes and ganache frosting, and an amazing Pink Lady cake from Smitten Kitchen (if you don’t know this site for recipes of sheer awesomeness, you should get there, right away). I’ve got pics on my old computer, but none handy now. The Pink Lady Cake was easily 10 inches high! It was a sight to see, and tasted amazing–clearly it made an impression on Jack!
