I have had Eli Leon’s book Who’d a Thought It: Improvisation in African-American Quilt Making on my Amazon wish list for years, and after the workshop at DSQ when I got to see it in person, I realized I should just go ahead and buy the darn thing. Except, now the used copies weren’t in a price I wanted to spend. I was pretty bummed, but then, on a whim, I checked eBay, and there it was, for four dollars.
It came on Saturday. You can take the nerd out of school, but you can’t take the love of books from the nerd. My collection is getting so it needs a place all its own.

don’t you love it when people think they just have an old book and you know it is valuable and even better- on your wish list. I scored Jeff an old copy of a book on antique firearms- they were going for hundreds on amazon and I found mine in an antique store for $13 – he was so thrilled and I was so proud…. great feeling.

Good buy. This is one of my favorite books. I’ve been visiting with Eli a lot. My archive of posts on his work is here: http://daintytime.net/tags/elileon/

I saw your post the other day, which is what reminded me of the book on my list (again). What an interesting soul… I love reading about him.
