Happy birthday to me! And a “Legacy” fabric giveaway for you!

Yup, another year older. I’ve never really felt like getting older was a terrible thing, more like a chance to take all the things you’ve learned the previous year and do something with them, whatever that learning looks like.  There’s a line in book I read that said middle age is ten years older than wherever you are, and that’s what I feel like.  WORD.

On to the giveaway!  Have you seen Angela Walter’ new line, “Legacy“? Through Art Gallery Fabrics, it’s got a beautiful hand and lovely drape, making it a great choice for quilting or  garment sewing, in my opinion.  I love that she incorporates so many quilting motifs in her designs, because I love the kind of interplay you can make between the print and the quilting itself!

From Left to right: Traces of Teal, Decoratifs Lemon, Genealogy Oro, and Grand Mosaic Lime

There’s a theater in Nashville (now turned into something else) that has a grand marquis out in front, and Decoratifs Teal reminds me of that old-school, elegant bijoux.

I’ve been wanting to make a quilted bag, lately, based on a couture bag I got from Italy years and years ago (remind me to tell you *that* story later…) and I think these fabrics might be a great start.  Off to the drawing board!

Angela sent me four half-yard cuts to ogle share with you, and I’m really happy to be able to share them with you AND have a giveaway!  I’ve been thinking of all the ways I want to use these, and would love to hear what you’d do with them, too!  To enter, leave a comment on this post any time between now and Sunday, Sept 8 (9 p.m. EST)  telling me what you’d make. Good luck!

I think I would make a bed pillow. Although I think it would also make a nice table runner.

Hey lovely lady! Happy birthday to you. I am so glad we got to meet at MQX and I hope we can meet up again soon. Just last night I decided to start reading blogs again so I was psyched to see this posted on facebook. What would I do with the fabrics? I’m not sure but I would start off by petting them and rearranging them and then mixing them in with some other fabrics and the pet them some more. You know.

I think a cute little top for my granddaughter (with blue eyes). Yoke of one fabric, sleeves of another and the body of the other two. Would also require some fine wale corduroy pants in that teal…

Happy Birthday! I would put them in a scrappy quilt. They are interesting lighter patterned fabrics and should work well.

They would be great in so many things, but I am kind of obsessed with quilted pillows right now so that is probably what I would do:)

I think I would use them to make myself a pretty “hostess apron” maybe, or possibly a table runner so I could look at them all the time… Difficult choice! =)
