Staple a backing to your longarm leaders, now on youtube!

When I was filming for Craftsy in October, we also made some shorter videos about different tips and techniques.  One of them was how to staple a quilt backing to the leaders.  I think it came out great! And I have a youtube channel!  Craaaazy. Let me know what you think!

    Very interesting. It seems a lot quicker but does it damage your leaders that you might have to replace them sooner? Also could you post the model # of the swing line stapler so I can purchase the correct one on line. Thanks I enjoyed your video. Please continue to share your talent and experience.

      Hi Brenda, thanks for your sweet comment! I haven’t noticed that it damages the leaders any more than pins would. I have a hybrid system now, where I put the bottom of the backing on with a Red Snapper, and then pin or staple the top. I got tired of fighting around the extra little bit of bulk near the throat.

    How to you get the staples out of the leader?

      I find it’s fairly easy to push from the back and then use slide my finger nails under and pull them out, but you could use any kind of staple remover I bet. That’s actually why I staple them so that the bar is on the backing fabric: nothing remains on the leader.

      I have a Swingline (Thanks to the movie Office Space) but any stapler with the options for which way the prongs will bend will work for you.
