I’m not sure if you remember this about me: I’m a BERNINA Ambassador! I’ve been one for a little over a year, and I just finished two days at the Creative Center with other Ambassadors, learning an awesome amount of information about an awesome series of machines, with awesome people. This was my second time going, and I have been looking forward to it for months! Every time I go, I learn something, actually, several somethings, a *lot* of somethings, that blow my mind.
BERNINA has been in the hands of the same family for five generations. Five. FIVE.
The tension for the zig zag stitch is a thing of beauty: the tension for the left and right side of the zig zag is variable so that it is just the right tension needed on either side.
There is a foot called the Leather roller foot (#55). It was originally made to sew the seams on the fingers of gloves, but it makes a seriously awesome tool for free motion quilting. SO FUN.
And this amazing awesomeness that I’ve been dying to try out, the binding attachments! I got to try out the various sizes, and to see how they worked. Even with strips cut on grain, it worked great. I could see this being really awesome for small projects and even finishing off raw edges for garment sewing.
The other Ambassadors are giving, generous, amazing people, and I love getting to spend time with them, as are the BERNINA team members I’ve worked with.
I love my Q24 with a great passion. Each machine is assembled by one person from start to finish, who signs their work at the end. It’s a sign of their integrity and pride.
There’s so much more, but I am pretty awfully tired and still have a long way to go to get back home. I have lots of inspiration to think on and work through, and even though I’m beat, I feel invigorated. It’s kind of a great feeling.
Stay groovy, cool cats.
