When I have to seriously get things done (like right now) I have Pride and Prejudice on in the background (the Colin Firth version), and also, Death Comes to Pemberly (a mystery written by P.D. James following up with the characters) right after.
This next is also on my list, though, and I’d love to share it with you, since it’s really fascinating! It’s an episode from Star Talk Radio with Neil DeGrasse Tyson about the science of creativity. Enjoy!

It depends on what I’m working on! Extreme concentration is instrumental rock like Explosions in the Sky, loud machine noise while quilting is music with lyrics, and cutting/piecing/puttering is podcast time. I really love the Nerdist/Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend, and the Crafty Planner for podcasts. It’s really hard for me to hear the podcasts over the constant machine noise, so that’s when I have to switch it up.
I hope you’re finding your productive groove!

Classical music, Spanish guitar, or the Gypsy Kings when I’m writing. Anything that I can sing along with when I’m sewing: John Hiatt, Carole King, Great Big Sea are some of my favorites.

I love Serial, Good Food, This American Life. Those, I listen to while cleaning. They activate me. I also listen to certain things to get me to a focused place. And I love dancing to music between it all.

I find myself quoting This American life frequently to explain things. That episode about quoting Modern Jackass resonated particularly, ha!
