What better way to get around to the New Year than with a new quilt pattern? I have been thinking about this quilt for a while now, ever since I saw a picture of a window that had this design in it. For weeks I tried to work out easy math solutions to all the triangles and bars, and then finally, it hit me: paper piecing!
This is my first paper piecing project, which is a good thing since I wa sable to work out simple directions for others new to paper piecing. While I think it is simple enough for any beginner, once laid out it is a complex enough deisgn to have a huge variety of interpretations. While I am on a three-color kick lately, this would also look great as a scrappy quilt with charm packs or layer cakes (may have to make another one because it’s been so fun!) Until I get the full pattern up and in my shop, though, here’s a little teaser:
Crisp lines, intricate design, pretty fabrics, what’s not to like? I’ve saved this “poppy” from Heather Bailey’s “Pop Garden” line for Free Spirit for years (and of course it gets re-released, so much for hoarding). Glad to make something I adore with it!
